Gracie Baruzzi began her dance career at the age of 7 at ‘A Dance Studio’ in Larchmont, New York. She went on to study Human Physiology and Dance at Boston University, where she trained in modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, and improvisation. She performed with Dance Theatre Group (DTG), under the direction of Micki Taylor Pinney, and choreographed for the company from 2009-2014. Gracie began choreographing with her Co-Director, Natalie Schiera, as alumni choreographers for DTG in 2012. Together, they created Nozama Dance Collective in 2013 and have been bringing the female empowerment movement to modern dance in Boston ever since. Additionally, alongside Jennifer Kuhnberg of OnStage Dance Company, Gracie developed the “Empower One Another” performance series, bringing local companies together to create new works surrounding the themes of the female experience. Outside of Nozama, Gracie is a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Natalie Schiera has been dancing since the young age of 4. Over the years she has dabbled in a variety of styles — ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip-hop, breaking. Though her first choreographer experience was her high school’s dance group. She was first introduced to serious choreographing through Boston University’s Dance Theatre Group under the direction of Micki Taylor-Pinney. That is also where she met her co-director Gracie Novikoff. The two started co-choreographing as alumni for DTG and have been together ever since. Natalie is a Graphic Designer full time and also spends her free time dancing and choreographing for Tribe the Dance Company.
