Here’s Dana! One of our super talented choreographers in the company with poetry skills to boot! See her newest choreographed piece in “Uplift” on Aug 9 & 10! . . . Dana Alsamsam began her training in Chicago at Dancenter North, finding her voice in improvisation and process-based creation. Since then, she has performed to live music in Lin Kahn’s MusicDance Ensemble where she collaborated with Miriam Engel of Jerusalem’s Angela Dance Company as a soloist in a new work. She has also performed with Ascendence Dance Chicago, DanceWorks Chicago ChoreoLab in a new work by Oscar Ramos of Batsheva Dance Company, wiss co, and recently, in Boston Dance Theater’s Immersion Projects. Dana has set choreography on Vernon Hills High School, Moonwater Dance Project, Onstage Choreography Residency participants, and DePaul Dance Company, and has choreographed and directed an evening length work to a sold-out house. She is excited for her second season and second choreography premier with Nozama.

Introducing our first “Uplift” guest artist: B-A-R Dance! Come see their big-hearted and rebellious movement on Aug 9 & 10 at @greenstreetstudios. . . . B-A-R Dance is a new, Boston-based contemporary movement collaborative founded in the Fall of 2018. Under the direction of Erin Saunders, Cayley Dorr, Elizabeth Powers, and Michelle Boilard, B-A-R strives to create impactful movement and connect with audiences by celebrating bodies as radical and physicality as joyful. These themes are portrayed through athletic partnering, cutting edge locomotions, and rapid collaborative creations. Recently, B-A-R has had the honor of debuting original works for various audiences in the Boston area, and hopes to continue to expand its horizons as opportunities arise. B-A-R is Bold, Authentic, Reckless. B-A-R is Built Amongst Relationship. B-A-R is Big-hearted And Rebellious.

With our show less than a month away, we wanted to showcase our hardworking cast. First up, our newest member, Olivia! Come see her dance in her very first Nozama show on Aug 9 & 10! . . . . Olivia Moriarty has been dancing since age 4, training in ballet, modern, and musical theater jazz. She is a middle school theatre teacher, director, and choreographer and is currently working towards her M.A. in Theatre Directing from Roosevelt University. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Education/Acting from Emerson College, where she was a choreographer and Executive Board member of Emerson Dance Company, and choreographed for Emerson Stage's X-Dance.
